  • Background

In 1983, FAITH IN ACTION, an annual Archdiocesan-wide appeal to support the pastoral, educational, outreach and developmental needs of the Archdiocese was announced. The first campaign was launched in June 1984 and Catholics were asked to make a financial commitment to fund Archdiocesan-wide needs. In 1994, Archbishop Michael J. Sheehan introduced a renewed campaign called the Annual Catholic Appeal, separately incorporated to assure protection of funds.

    Purpose

The Annual Catholic Appeal raises funds to support the Archdiocesan ministries and services including Community Outreach, Pastoral Services, Education and Evangelization, Clergy Education and Long-term Care, so that all parishes may develop as vibrant Catholic communities and support the needs of the wider Archdiocesan Church.
